I believe I’ve heard stories of gate agents offering to upgrade one member of a pair, but I’m curious about automatic upgrades.
Normally when I'm traveling with young son, if there are two non-adjacent FC seats available, they will page us and ask if we mind being separated - I always turn them down because I like him next to me. However, now that he's 14 I expect the day is soon coming where we may be happier seated apart!
