I made it with much time to spare and as on transfer airline would have held the flight anyway.....and then the flight was delayed.
I have done T3/T2 to T1 connection many times (and recently twice a week), but if there are 2 options for the next flight and connection is tight then I book the latter. If I arrive at T1 early enough to get the earlier flight then most of the time I take it if it is available and not extortinate cost.
Be prepared to have to change to the later flight (flexible ticket helps) if things don't go to schedule. T1 departures is not such a bad place to sit and in my experience security is quick and organized.

i believe online boarding passes have to be stamped....you would be better off getting a boarding pass from one of the automated machines once you enter t1....
Thanks everyone for the replies. I decided to switch to another international flight arriving earlier, so no issues now.
