I prefer MO Wangfujing to Peninsula. MO is one of the most beautiful hotels in Beijing and the service at MO is better than Peninsula the last time I stayed. MO also has nice views over the Forbidden City which is unique among hotels in Beijing. However, MO can be much more expensive. The Peninsula in Beijing is very similar to their hotels in Shanghai and Hong Kong in terms of room design.

My favourite hotels in Beijing are MO and Bulgari. I stayed back-to-back at Bulgari (deluxe suite) and MO (oriental suite) earlier this year. MO's suite and common area are much prettier, but Bulgari had slightly better service (probably because MO just opened at that time). One interesting discovery from that trip is that Bulgari and MO shared a few similar amenities (Marvis toothpaste etc) but Bulgari offered them in larger size.
