So far I’m rather unimpressed by Shanghai except for the spectacular skyline. So if there’s a hotel with great views and good hardware (and a good chance of a suite upgrade), that would be my preferred choice.
I’m currently leaning towards the JW at Tomorrow Square...
I will always stay at St Regis in Shanghai. I get the St Regis Suite each time, and the hardware one of the newest (next to Edition).

JW is way too old.

St Regis doesn’t have much of a view but it’s situated in a nice neighbourhood.
