Trying to get money back after the fact (when back home) is a tough ask, especially as delay due to weather. That's for travel insurance.
I would have taken the 2 day delay and tried for better with WJ the next day/night. Many people would have been effected by the weather.
Or taken the refund offer before the scheduled BA flight left
