I increasingly find the AA/JL JV to be useless since I am based in non-gateway cities in the NE/Midwest and always travel beyond Japan. The suspension of ORD-NRT is probably going to force me to move my Asia travel to a different carrier next year. JL's intra-Asia network is already substandard compared to its competitors - adding in an airport change in TYO is a nonstarter for me.
The intra Asia network is probably getting better by moving the ORD flight to Haneda, though it depends a bit on the timing of the flight.
