This is great. Had awards booked with UA miles and Aeroplan, both allowed for free bulkhead/exit/preferred selection, whereas previously it was costing $$.
Looks like a few other seating options have opened up as well. EG rows 4-6 used to be blocked for advance seat reservations on Q400 flights but are now selectable.
