I do agree with that assessment.
Your advice to use TK or other programms forgets that several programms give zero miles/points/kilometers for LH-Group P Class, which offers great fares.
To be fair, my advice was for Baarli to check what those programs yield for the booking classes he's likely to be on. It is true that LH P yields nothing on TK (and A3). But both A3 and TK will give credit for P on OS and LX.
I also agree with your assessment that routing through DOH/DXB/etc. can be a pain. But we don't know exactly where the user is based. Routing through FRA/MUC/ZRH/VIE need not be so great, either. As you wrote, there are potentially other good options. For instance, AY to Japan can be quite nice in terms of the hours and flight times.
If Baarli wants more specific advice, this is probably not the best thread for him to ask. In general terms, that is, abstracting from Baarli's situation, I think it pays off more than ever to compare status qualification under the M&M program to that of other *A programs.
As I mentioned - based on my 30 years of FF experience (and this appears to be my post #10000 on this forum)
Very cool--congrats!!
