This just seems like an unprofessional way to discourage bag claims. I highly doubt Rynn’s would destroy any bags (except for those voluntarily surrendered).
The person behind the counter you are talking to (the claims agent e.g. HDQDD) and his employer (the airilne) do not want to be accountable to you because they took the baggage and returned nothing to you, even if someone else behind the scenes (Rynn's) determined cursorily that they could and elected to send it to the manufacturer for better or worse and the manufacturer found out that the baggage was fake and confiscated it rather than send it back up the chain..

Hence it is not unprofessional although what was said to you probably could have been worded more eloquently.
