The point is are you trying to work with the guest and apologize when you cannot do something you should be able to do or do you antagonize, mislead, and make up things to get rid of the guest.

So far, I'm okay with this as she assures she'll figure it out even if it means processing the gc after I check out. We're in this together.


As you earlier described, the manager tried(more than once) to make it work. It just did not work out. I would give the manager the benefit of doubt that it is more likely that he/she could not make it work. If he/she did not intend to accept gift card, he/she has multiple opportunities to tell you. There is no gain for him/her to make promise then break it later.
