Or see can propose to SQ to let you fly from shanghai (there is a new suite A380). But it might be troublesome due to visa n additional transit time.

OP is probably eligible for TWOV, so going through China isn't necessarily precluded. Check the very authoritative big sticky TWOV thread in the FT China destination forum.
