I go through MAN once a week, on average. I'm not rewarding the exceptionally poor experience with £5k of my money (or £2.5k if all I want is to use the security lane in PremiAir and get driven to the gate - thanks for the article Raffles). Forget it. I'd try it for holidays with Mrs 12939 - who finds that the attitude of security staff at MAN ruins her enjoyment of the holiday until she actually gets on the aircraft. She dreads it.
Although I often have good cause to let rip at MAN, my experience this week was good. No queue for BA check-in desk and no queue for Fast Track either - exceptionally rare these days - and I was on the BA1389 at 10:00. Traffic and weather on the morning in question was horrific, taking 3x usual time to get to airport. Arrived in the terminal building at T-50 (!), checked in a bag and still had time for a moderately leisurely mug of tea in the lounge prior to boarding.
I hadn't seen the BBC article, nor the Which report, but I agree with the MAN rep who said it was flawed. I reckon they surveyed in the less busy times. Mornings in particular are a real problem. I have been in the Fast Track queue for 45 mins.
If MAN want me to turn up 2 hours before the flight because they can't organise themselves properly, I might as well use that time to drive to LBA and fly from there instead.
I could have a mini-gripe about the car parking situation at MAN especially with taxis now clogging up the T3 MSCP by parking badly, double-parking etc. whilst they wait to pick up their passengers.
