Indeed... that's what I do. It takes another tray, but what the heck. I rarely get a secondary check, and when I do, it's random.

I think I mentioned this on here before... A few years ago I was going through T2. I put all my cables and charges etc. in a separate tray. The guy at security insisted I didn't need to do that, and that I should put them all back in my bag. Of course, I got a secondary check.... The guy who then checked my bag (very pleasant bloke) said it was because of all the cables, and advised to take them out in future. I explained had happened, and he asked who had told me to put everything back in my bag. I pointed out the original guy, and he rolled his eyes and said "that figures... sorry about that!".
