@gilbertaue I checked the list of room types at Sofitel Singapore and it seems more clear-cut that the difference between each are the benefits, than for Sofitel Istanbul Taksim. For Sofitel Istanbul they do not specifically say what the difference is between the classic room, superior room, and luxury room. If it's about benefits like Singapore then indeed I could see having a chance of success to get an upgrade to a suite and in that case it would be far better value to stay there as Platinum than based on my thoughts outlined above a couple of days ago! ^

The other issue is about rooms with a view. Most hotels would argue this is a different room type, not about benefits, so it introduces more room categories in Istanbul (unlike Singapore) because of their Bosphorus View rooms.
