If the EXST is booked at the same time as the human, and for all sectors, it'll appear in the human's PNR as SURNAME/EXST (and so will appear in MMB too).
If it is only added subsequently, or not on all sectors, the EXST will have its own PNR but be cross-referenced to its human's booking behind the scenes.
Thanks for the info, that explains it. Thanks also to CWS and dtremit. I now know how to book an extra seat in future.
Is there anyway for me to see this cross-referenced PNR, or is it not visible on the customer side of the IT system?
Is it also possible for a check-in agent or gate agent to
not see the cross-referenced PNR, and assign the seat at that stage to someone else? Just trying to understand the possible pitfalls, given none of my paperwork mentions the extra seat!
