trying to understanding pricing has kept me busy for 30 years or so.

Saturday night away drops long haul fares. Why, no idea.

It used to be the same in Europe before the LCCs changed SH pricing. 20 years ago I frequently managed to get weekends away with work because it was significantly cheaper to fly out saturday and pay for saturday night in the hotel that it was to fly out sunday.
