The general rule is to include a Saturday night and you’ll get the cheapest fare always, so could stay 2/3 nights if one is a Saturday you’ll get the cheaper fare.

A good work around is to look at a flight + hotel / car as this sometimes reduces the fare back in line with those including a Saturday. You don’t then have to actually use the car or hotel...
