That is more than doubling the price.
So many look just at the qulification rules but completely miss, that they need to re-qualify now evey year. Might be, that qualification gets a bit easier for some, for example if you are flying lots of cheap economy fares in Europe. But again: therefore you have to re-qualify every year!
Just had the same discussion with a colleague who is FTL on 30 segments. The advantage of the new system is that instead of doing 30 segments with M&M airlines (LH/LX/LO/OS/SN/EW/OU) or 35k status miles, you now have to do atleast 16 with M&M airlines and can finally use the segments you flew on other partners...
