I disagree.
FTL is one of the few net positives. The price is not really doubling. The value of your FTL is essentially zero if you don't fly during the time you hold the status.
While I acknowledge there are year-to-year fluctuations in the amount of *A flying people do, these fluctuations aren't big for many flyers.
And FTL becomes really easy in many cases.
Ex. 1: You have 16 short-haul LH group segments + 16 short-haul non LH groups segments per year, all in eco -> you make FTL under the new rules. Under the old rules, you don't!
Ex. 2: You have 20 short-haul LH group segments + 4 long-haul LH group segments, all in eco -> again, you become FTL under the new rules but not the old.
Ex. 3: You have 12 short-haul LH group segments in eco for work. As a flying enthusiast, you make one long-haul business class r/t per year, most likely in P. -> again, you make FTL under the new rules but not the old.
