I fully agree with Goldorak.
But there are enough flights from AMS and it is easier to transfer international to Schengen and avoid potentially long immigration lines at CDG.
Actually, there is a KL flight 2:30 hours later if you miss your connection to NCE.
You might try to add a note in your AMS-NCE booking stating that you arrive from LAX on KL. And KL might be nice about it. The worse scenarion is that you have to buy a new ticket (there is also a Transvia flight).
I would be fine with that 2h connection to NCE but not on the return where the longhaul follows the shorthaul, as the "cost" would be much higher.
