This is the outlier. The one that opens the floodgates to all sorts of gaming of the system. Compared to all the others, this one is disproportionate. Fly just a little bit outside of Europe, and your points are multiplied by 5. Something like FRA-LIS is 3 hours and gets you 10 points. By comparison there are a few flights such as FRA-TUN which are actually shorter and get you 50 points. Flying in First gets you 70 points which is rather low in comparison.
As far I can tell, this is virtually identical to the BA system. 140 tier points for a long-haul one-way in J (any fare class) with 1500 needed for BA Gold (oneworld Emerald), so 10 legs give or take. Virtually identical to BA. And BA seems happy enough with it.
