Thanks. I looked carefully indeed. I only resorted to booking separately because of the vast mileage difference/cost.
I think I will do what you said and book an early afternoon flight if need be.

I did speak to flying blue who said they could link the reservations but I don't think that is true, since another agent told me it is not possible and I think they just meant crossreferencing the booking.
