The fridge rattle is indeed repaired.

It is now pleasantly cool (old lounge was frequently very warm indeed.)

Yes, there are showers as before, and yes they are also upgraded.

Much better food selection in the main lounge, a definite step up.

More visible staff around, and generally a more welcoming feel to the service style.

The lounge does feel under capacity. Though it has many seats, there is a limited area of ‘comfortable’ lounge seating and this was completely full, while there seemed to be an excess of less comfortable options which were less popular — hard table seating, the usual inexplicable ‘board room’ area occupying a lot of space, and hard seating and stools around the bar.

The First dining area had around 18 seats but these are grouped at tables which aren’t very suitable for sharing. So, it could be short of seating if there are many single travellers or a given day. It filled up the day I was there (Saturday) and some latecomers didn’t have space to come in. The menu was limited but fine. Ended up sitting in there despite not wanting to eat because of lack of comfort seating elsewhere.

The new lounge is a distinct improvement on both the old First and Club sides, though it still isn’t quite as large as it needs to be for two consecutive A380 services.
