Had similar experience with the Westin Mina Seyahi in Dubai earlier this year. Booked 6 weeks ahead and Rate Details indicated a deposit would be taken so expecting a 1-night (refundable) charge to be billed immediately. However, whether through Marriott or hotel policy, technical issue or lackadaisical admin, the 1st night was only billed to my card at 3 days before arrival, at the point that (per the rate conditions) my option to cancel expired, with the balance paid at check-out
