I was able to successfully change CC payment to my Explorer card. I purchased the flight ticket yesterday but was outside the 24 hour window. United purchased the same ticket with the Explorer card for me over the phone, honoring the old fare (even though the fare increased today). Then they fully refunded the fare bought with the original CC. Really great customer service. If it was within 24hrs I would have just cancelled and rebooked myself online/on my app.
