Google Street View (admittedly I have no idea when the photos were taken) shows the Renaissance to be in an area that looks like it's all industrial and under construction. The Marriott website photos just show exterior photos during the "golden hour" of dusk when everything looks wonderful. What is the area like around the Renaissance? Are there any shops, restaurants, bars? I am rethinking and might switch to the downtown Marriott but want to see whether that qualifies for off peak on our one night.
I was at the Renaissance in June and the area IMHO cannot be described as "industrial and under construction"....more like newer office building and mixed office/residential building area with hotels around to support the people visiting the offices. There's are other hotels like an Ibis and a Novotel (both by Accor) just across the street. I cannot comment on shops, restaurants and bars since I was visiting friends in the city and they took me to their local places.
