I get that, and that's fine. However when I call in and they place me in 1K after I ask them if they can assign it to me and it sticks for a few months then they take me out of it, that's kinda sucky. Keep it blocked for all I care, but don't let me have it and then take it back telling me that someone else has it.
They can't win
with geeky flyers calling in to get 1a/1k, how about if they allocated it on a provisional basis, making you aware it could be taken away and given to some individual they define as high status (pilot's girlfriend etc). I bet most would still accept it....
Perhaps TK should start and fuel the rumour that, say, 8a/8k, are the most desirable seats, reserved for only the true elites.
