I spent the last 7 months obtaining Nexus for my family of 4 and should have the cards this week. We're all US citizens. I applied for all 4 of us on May 13th. My wife and 2 kids (1 and 5) were conditional approved within 2 weeks. I wasn't approved until September 11th. I called a few times in between and they were baffled at how quickly my wife and kids were approved.

On November 1 we did the "interview" in Blaine. I give it quotes because it was very informal, more of reading off the information to verify. I had forgotten several Caribbean countries my wife and I had been to on the application and she said it was no big deal as long as they weren't middle eastern countries. The CBP officer was fantastic and super friendly with our 5 year old, even having him confirm all his own information just for fun. Towards the end she commented she nearly forgot to ask why we wanted it as we don't live in a bordering state. I told her for TSA, GE and we travel to Canada a couple times a year. 1 use in 5 years is enough for me to jump through the hoops to get it. CBSA had a card with explanation of use and a picture of the land crossing to show where to scan the cards. Everyone had pictures taken and wife and I were both fingerprinted and did iris scan onsite. I got the approval emails for all of us before we even walked the 20 feet from the interview desk to the iris scanner.

Even though it doesn't call for it I brought birth certificates for everyone and they made copies to put on file, saying every piece of documentation is great to have..

They said we should have the cards within 7-10 days.
