So by all means order your card. But I would suggest not losing a ton of sleep not having it yet it based on my experience. I'm sure someone will be along soon enough to tell me I am full of it, but I have a reasonable statistical sample size ;-)
I'm happy you've had successful experiences. And it should be that way with just the BP.
But not all *A airlines have efficient scanners or staff, so when one hits a bump as OP did, the little plastic card might help.

As always in the world of flying and on FT, YMMV.

Thanks, I was on the Altitude site last night looking for that. Clearly tiny font and other distractions got in the way.
