Immigration lines and security lines have more to do with the potential for delays. The shuttle is adding at most 5-10 minutes to the journey these days.
Mid-afternoon on a Friday (25-Oct) I waited 10 minutes in the tent for the bus. About 15 minutes ride over to T1. They had a pretty good flow of busses. not sure if they reduce capacity at other times. So not a much longer wait than the train, but still 25 minutes of connection time consumed exclusive immigration/security.
