Thankfully for those of us based in Australia, the value proposition is MUCH better, given NZ's pretty reliable sales to the Americas and very competitive ex-Australia fares, though we do pay the price in the form of the AKL stopover (which is fine on the outbound, but on the return it definitely contributes to jetlag given it means much earlier wake-up time (if thinking in Australian time zones) and much longer first day back).
