I have experienced a fair sampling of seats in J longhaul NZ 772, QF 744/332, CX340/330/77W/351, SQ772/388/744, TG 330/346/744/772/77W/359, NH744....Not all have had fully flat seats as this spans 30 years or so, and the cradle recliner was big in its day
I’m 1.7m and average ‘size’, and a back sleeper. The NZ mattress is nice, but I detest the poor recline in the seated position. So much so that it is a deal breaker for me on a day flight (if I have a choice).
I also don’t like the LED light from the person across the aisle as most folks seem ignorant of its impact glaring at me as try to sleep. I have asked folks if they minded rotating it or pushing it flat to turn it off.
Herringbone is ‘ok’ and I prefer CX’s and TG’s window facing version rather than NZ’s inner facing.
The 789/781/359/351 are all better for long haul for me with the increased cabin pressure.
Each to our own.....
