I wanted to cancel and rebook a GOH stay, but there was no points availability for those dates and I was fearful to cancel and immediately rebook in case there had suddenly been a blackout, and I got lucky. (Does anyone have anything to say to that?)
Unless you have something in writing, I wouldn't count on what the "Globalist Line" told you. You don't need to rebook the reservation, however; just call and ask that GoH be added to the reservation for your parent's room.
