To be honest, I'm not a fan of any of those three places. I like Chiang Mai far more for an urban experience and Koh Tao for the beach/island experience.

Of course it's an inexact comparison, but in a way Yogya is to Jakarta what Chiang Mai is to Bangkok. And Lombok is to Bali what Koh Tao is to Phuket.
