Depends on your use case. For me, I am less likely to pull out a laptop and use a tablet while in flight. Between the IFE and my tablet and a book, I am good for even a 20+ hour flight. My laptop stays stowed above until I reach my destination and settled in. But I enjoy being disconnected and the downtime of such a long flight. The OP might need to be online and dealing with emails. They just need to be practical about it...

Really though, if if you can put something behind the laptop that will prevent the latch from catching, you can use any laptop or tablet. It's just that the angle of view will likely suck.
