Never quite sure where all this panic is coming from. One hour is perfectly doable, and on one ticket the risk is solely with BA. Of course a delayed inbound can mean a missed connection, but that could also happen with a 2 hour connection. So I have a low probability of loosing a few hours through a missed connection vs a guarantee of losing time through a long connection? I'd rather go with the tight connection.

If I have to do something absolutely critical at the other end I usually fly a day early - things can (and do) sometimes go wrong.
