Finishing my first night here (of four). I booked the best room available when I made the reservation, a so-called Petite Suite. This turns out to be simply a larger room, not a suite at all, with an awkward structural column right in the middle of it. It overlooks an interior courtyard and there is a modest terrace.. The room is furnished in Holiday-Inn-Express-chic style with a dirt-colored carpet designed to reduce vacuuming needs. There is no desk, only a table next to a couch in one part of the room, so using a laptop is awkward.

The bathroom is smallish with just a shower, as has been noted (that's fine with me).

The hotel has promised to move me to a regular suite, which is apparently made from two rooms with a connecting door, after my first night.

When I called the hotel and tried to switch to the front desk, there was no answer no matter how long I let it ring. This happened repeatedly.

The location is very convenient to Bourbon Street but the part it is close to is the sleazy part.

The argument that this is a franchise and there are no Hyatt employees here is irrelevant. If Hyatt's name is on the door, Hyatt is responsible for the standards at the hotel. Period.

So far, I am not impressed. I would not stay here again.
