The room is furnished in Holiday-Inn-Express-chic style with a dirt-colored carpet designed to reduce vacuuming needs. There is no desk, only a table next to a couch in one part of the room, so using a laptop is awkward.

The bathroom is smallish with just a shower, as has been noted (that's fine with me).

The hotel has promised to move me to a regular suite, which is apparently made from two rooms with a connecting door, after my first night.

When I called the hotel and tried to switch to the front desk, there was no answer no matter how long I let it ring. This happened repeatedly.

The location is very convenient to Bourbon Street but the part it is close to is the sleazy part.

The argument that this is a franchise and there are no Hyatt employees here is irrelevant. If Hyatt's name is on the door, Hyatt is responsible for the standards at the hotel. Period.

So far, I am not impressed. I would not stay here again.
I agree with RichardinSF - it's a bit underwhelming. I too have a Petite Suite which has a single window (no upgrade for me). One side of the sheer is missing and so you can only open one of the two blackout curtains or others can see in. The staff are friendly for certain,
You get $35 in the restaurant as the Globalist Breakfast amenity (more if there are two booked in the room). There are some long walks from the three lifts to the rooms. Just three storeys.
