There were some with us (we saw them at the IC, later) but they were not in J.
Most of the time, the J seats on the PPT flights are being sold. However, on our O/B, over a month ago, J was wide open after OLCI (I was kind of upset because we were on a P/Z cash fare and I could've bought W and gotten the UGs for sure). When I looked at the UG list, it was populated with about 14 names that were also on the standby list. In SFO, everyone on the UG list got "upgraded" on that flight, so that meant that there were at least 14 non-revs in the cabin with us. Later in the flight, I was talking with woman in the J cabin who turned-out to be a BOS based FA. She told me that they have a system to alert non revs of desirable flights with lots of space and that she had made a last-minute duty swap in order to get on our flight. She told me that the PPT flights are the most popular aspirational non-rev flights in the system right now.

The stuff I saw on these flights (I've done 4 in the last 6 months) looked worse than the normal fare that I see on my frequent NRT flights. I have to emphasize "looked" because I didn't actually try to eat any of the pig slop. But, one of my neighbors who did, sent it back, saying it was, "disgusting". I do agree that the FAs were grazing heavily on our snacks and meals, since many refused dinner service.

Well, I can only report what I and others experienced. I've been in that lounge twice in 6 months and both times the Wi-Fi was absolutely unusable. There were lots of complaints that I overheard about the poor service to the desk girls, so it wasn't just us. It's possible that they fixed it since I was there last-over a month ago now.
