So it should be possible to pay in a different currency, regardless of the POS.
I suspect (based on my recollection of what has been said in the past) that the agent would have changed to a CA POS and then charged you in CAD. Obviously, if you get the same booking class, you'll be priced using the same fare, and the exchange rates used by BA aren't really loaded.
The issues come if one POS has availability in the desired booking class but the other POS doesn't.
