Whether on SA or BA, makes no difference, and the walk at JNB is indeed a short one.

Domestic BA flights in South Africa, operated by Comair, are nice and efficient, at least as pleasant as intra-European international ones.

If you have a choice between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, the latter is a good choice. Small, quick and not far away.
