I arrived today around 3pm and it worked pretty well. However, I arrived on Southwest, so it was a short walk. I used to hate the fact that people would book their cars way before they arrived at the curb. Then the cars would arrive, jam up the pick-up area waiting for riders who weren't there, and the rest of us had a hard time locating our drivers. It just seemed really rude to do this to other riders. Today, I had my Lyft code and got into the line - it reminded me a bit of how they board you at the Autopia at Disneyland.
It seemed much more empty in the Terminal horseshoe so this dispersal of traffic is helping there. However, I noticed that people at the rideshare boarding area were pretty slow, which perhaps LAWA didn't factor in. It's not that hard to show your code and get in the car and go. But the cars were at the curb loading for what seemed like forever before they would take off. Not sure if it was the drivers or the passengers.
I also noticed the shuttle line into LAX-it seemed really slow and congested. Must be a bad bottleneck somewhere. I'm sure I'll have a different opinion when I arrive at T4 and have to shuttle or when it's raining.
