MCT needs to be same as if you were on one ticket. Ie you cant use it to get around MCT.

Note it will likely be much more expensive buying two separate tickets in your case. Tickets ex-Canada are generally much cheaper than ex-US. Also it gets converted to CAD which makes it cheaper also.
