Waldorf Las Vegas - Charged for Room Service After Checkout
Thoughts would be appreciated:
I checked into the Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas at 4pm on Saturday the 19th and I checked out via text message with the front desk just before midnight on the same day. While at the hotel I ordered room service one time. Around 1pm the next day I received an email with the invoice for the stay which included the correct amount for the stay including the room service charge.
Several days later I noticed that my credit card had been charged a second time and after logging into my account I discovered that I was charged over $100 for room service on the 20th which was after I left the hotel. I immediately called the hotel, was transferred to "Accounting" and now 4 days later after being promised a call back, I of course have not received one.
Just wondering how long most people would wait to be contacted and/or have it corrected by Hilton? Since the incorrect room service charge was separate I could just contest it with AMEX without impacting the legitimate charge. I would prefer not to spend another 20-30 minutes on hold to then explain this to another agent as my time is reasonably valuable. And of course why would I expect a better result next time.
The thought also crossed my mind that because I checked out so early, perhaps my room was used by a hotel employee or a friend for a night and they had room service which was billed to me. If so, it would be very disturbing for any number of reasons.
