Not sure what Delta Corporate you spoke too, because I even hear automated messages at the gate about removing the battery and Away even warns you on their site that Delta AA United do not allow smart bags to have their battery in when in the cabin.

It's the main reason they allow the battery to be removed and also offer free upgrades to those who have the older model where you can't remove the battery.
