I could see the XT5 being considered an “or similar” kind of substitute since it’s within a fraction of an inch of the Velar in all dimensions except width, though most consumers wouldn’t see Cadillac as having the same brand cachet as a Range Rover. The Evoque, however - a smaller model within the same brand as the example model - is unquestionably a downgrade. How it got repriced higher than your original reservation is beyond me.
