I don't even need to open Chase Pay. I just open Samsung Pay, select my Freedom card, and authenticate. As long as it shows the Chase Pay logo on the screen, it should go though as Chase Pay and its 5% bonus.

I've done this multiple times, even at a gas pump that takes Apple/Samsung Pay, and got 5%.
