I had booked the Doha Hyatt (being Hyatt Explorist) for a Doha 24h stopover in 14 days using the cheap rates of the Discover Qatar stopover programs.

Qatar just sent me an email that for “operational reasons” they had to rebook me into the Souq Waqif Boutique hotel instead, without even asking me beforehand.

The reviews of the Souq Waqif look ok, it’s probably a decent hotel (any feedback appreciated!) but I’m still slightly annoyed that they didn’t even ask for my input here. One of the appeals of the Hyatt was the beach location in case I get too lazy to do any sightseeing. Looks like the new location is the pretty central but it doesn’t seem like any beach is nearby.

Obviously the stopover is dead cheap using this program, but I’d still have preferred being given the option to select another hotel or even skip the stopover completely.

It will probably all be fine in the end but they could have dealt with this in a smarter way I feel.
