I think it really depends on what you want out of your stay. Some places just want to provide a comfortable environment to be out, others are basically bathhouses. I've stayed at gay places in big cities and resorts. I've also stayed at chain (i.e., straight) hotels in big cities and resorts (yes, including PSP). The only conclusion I can make is that you really can't generalize whether gay hotels/b&bs are a better value/experience as a whole, but whether they are a better value/experience for you (and your partner). Staying at a gay hotel probably requires a bit more research beforehand since they are more of an unknown than a big chain (a Valentines Day romantic weekend with your honey is probably not a good idea at the All Worlds Resort in PSP). However, I've had great stays in places where the hosts invite me to their dinner parties or act as my personal tour guide. While the W is great at providing me ammenity points and Aveda bath products, I doubt they would ever go that far...
