On my last flight from IAH-HNL about a month ago, the appetizer was shrimpcocktail. Two small shrimp only.
They ran out of the pasta bowl and the shrimp course, so I had the chicken dish. It came with very unpleasing apricot rice (I'd say about 2 tablespoons worth), and a single chicken breast -- which was so dry I couldn't finish it. But the salads and appetizers are usually very tasty.
I honestly don't expect much, therefore I always bring my own food, and my seatmates usually always seem to be envious of me.

For the breakfast there were two grapes, and a slice of a strawberry around a single piece of papaya. And jam, etc. Not one strawberry. A *slice* of a strawberry -- about 1/4th of one. I wonder how much cash that actually saves them...
In Y I most certainly would bring my own meal.
How disappointing to have such lousy food service on a supposedly BusinessFirst flight of that length. Earlier this month I did IAH-SEA-ANC and ANC-SEA-IAH in F and the food was all very good. Dinner on IAH-SEA was a nice salad and roll, followed by either a grilled chicken calzone served with potato salad or a chicken pasta dish, and a sundae for dessert. The calzone was actually pretty good. SEA-ANC had a nice cold plate, with three shrimp and cocktail sauce, cheese, salami, crackers, a bunch of grapes, and a piece of candy. Returning from ANC, the same cold plate was offered, although I declined it on the 1:00 AM departure as I was still quite full from my dinner on the Alaska Railroad and snack at Chili's at ANC. Breakfast on SEA-IAH was the usual fruit plate (but with a bunch of grapes, and a complete strawberry, plus several slices of honey dew and cantelope) with either cereal with yogurt or scrambled eggs served with potatoes, ham, and a grilled tomato. I had the hot option and ate everything but the eggs (but I don't eat eggs anywhere). And before arrival we had the chocolate chip cookies. Sounds like this was a much better service than what's being offered in BF on the Hawaii flights these days.
