CX Latest Enhancements - Lipstick on a Pig
To those MPC members who got the latest magazine touting the changes made by CX I wanted to throw in my 2 cents. This is in no particular order:
1. Slippers: Congratulations on providing something that most other Asian carriers have had for years. Mainland Chinese carriers are even able to provide them on short-haul routes in premium class.
2. Pillow: CX had the opportunity to really step up with better bedding. The new pillow is completely impractical in the regional configuration and there is no way to fit comfortably in the seat with it. On my flight to Tokyo last week on the "high density 777" everyone had thrown it aside and some people found it more useful as a footrest.
3. Food: No real improvement in food. A decade after Singapore Airlines introduced "Book the Cook" CX is unable to do so even for flights departing from Hong Kong.
4. First Class: SQ just announced the introduction of a third champagne on rotation in F to complement Krug and DP. CX believes Deutz is an acceptable substitute to Krug and while SQ is "enhancing" their caviar experience, CX goes the other way and actually downgraded to quality to a point they serve it only to be able to say they serve caviar.
5. Lounges: Food in The Pier F is still like cafeteria food. Was in the Sakura F lounge in NRT last week and the food, service etc. was what The Pier should aspire to. The Pier is more like Priority Pass lounge than a F lounge these days.
